Below is an overview of the steps involved in the process of drilling the well. Well Drilling is used to tap into the groundwater supply in Georgia's Aquifer.
A suitable location must be selected and all necessary permits must be obtained first before Drilling! Check with your local Environmental Health Office for your permit! Once we find a suitable location within the guidelines, we will begin to gather all the necessary drilling equipment. Several different types of methods can be used to drill a well. The method we use is the rotary drill method. The drill rotates and cuts into the earth while flushing water out of the drill. Cuttings from the drilling are flushed upwards out of the drill hole during the drilling into a pit dug into the ground.
Once proper depth is met the well hole is then lined with a casing, usually made out of durable PVC pipe. The casing prevents the well from caving in and protects it from any contamination from the surrounding area. Once cased and drilled below the casing to the proper depth, the well is blown with compressed air. This helps to retrieve freshwater and clean the well from any cuttings remaining. We then sanitize and treat to ensure no bacteria are left and grout the well to seal it off. Finally, a water pump is installed to draw water from the well into your water storage tank.
When all work is done, you can enjoy your fresh water from your Well.
